“I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.”

Carl Jung

Hello, my name is Tiernee and I am a Board Certified Art Therapist, Nationally Certified Licensed Professional Counselor, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, with a post graduate certificate in Nutritional Psychiatry. I am a current art therapy faculty at Southwestern College in Santa Fe and am developing prevention focused nature-centric, art-based SEL programming at a local satellite clinic. I have a Bachelors of Art from UW-Green Bay, and a dual Masters of Science in Art Therapy and Professional Counseling from Mount Mary University. I offer a holistic and integrative therapy approach helping clients heal and grow, while developing a life of purpose and meaning.

An artist by nature, I became interested in art therapy after experiencing the healing effects of art-making in my own personal journey. I feel most at home outdoors, in my studio, or enjoying good food with my close friends and family.

My Approach

Blue Pines Counseling Therapy Cedarburg

Cedarburg Counseling

Using a “holistic and integrative therapy approach” means I combine various counseling and therapeutic approaches including ACT, art therapy, CBT, humanistic, person-centered, and relational therapies. I also often invite clients to consider therapeutic lifestyle changes including diet, sleep hygiene, self-care, and physical activity as an essential part of the healing and growth process.

what’s an appointment like?

The approaches I work with center the client as the motivator, expert, and doer in their lives. I steer away from offering advice, and sadly, do not have a magic wand. I offer feedback, education, and skills that encourage self-regulation, self-knowledge, self-confidence, and self-efficacy that will empower you to make choices that align with an authentic, joyful life.

Seeking guidance from a counselor can be a courageous step for many, particularly if you are dealing with difficult or overwhelming feelings and experiences. Therefore, you can expect absolute sensitivity towards whatever might be working through. An appointment provides a space in which you can be totally honest—with yourself. A space where you can be open to both your experience, and to your potential for change.

Making a commitment to your personal growth and self-knowledge is an investment with endless reward. Not only will you experience a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in your life, the relationships you engage in will flourish. You can expect respect, compassion, and unconditional acceptance with some humor at times!

How long will the therapeutic process take?

Healing has no timeline. Growth is open-ended and endless. However, we do know, it takes about 10-12 weeks for lasting change to occur. After an initial consultation, you can expect regularly scheduled, appointments for at least 3 months. We typically review progress every few weeks and adjust scheduling as needed. An example of a possible therapeutic process may look like:

  • Weekly Sessions for 3 months

  • Biweekly Sessions for 3 months

  • Monthly Sessions for 3 months

  • Discharge

Regularity and continuity provide a feeling of security and add structure to the therapeutic process, in which your own experience can naturally unfold. I am here to assist you in this process, by offering the time and space needed, and certain skills that may enable you to explore your experience more effectively. Looking forward to hearing from you!
