“Art speaks where words are unable to explain” -Pam Holland

Welcome! My name is Autumn, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Training and Provisional Registered Art Therapist. I have a Bachelor of Science in Art Therapy from Edgewood College, and I recently graduated from Mount Mary University with a dual Master of Science in Art Therapy and Professional Counseling. I offer an integrative approach, specifically person-centered and strengths-based, that uses a balance of art therapy and talk therapy techniques to search for insight, create meaning to draw connections, and make changes in daily life. I invite clients on a journey of self-exploration that can then be integrated into life outside of sessions.

I have been using art to process my own life journey for as long as I can remember. The art therapy process has brought me inner understanding, connection with others, and presence. Things that bring me joy are spending time with my family and friends, thrifting, taking care of my plants, and creating new collage art pieces.

I work with children, teens, and adults. Specifically, I enjoy working with teens because of their developing personality, evolving insight, and creativity.

Blue Pines Counseling Therapy Cedarburg

Cedarburg Counseling

Using an integrative approach means that I utilize various counseling approaches to best fit your needs in the therapeutic setting. These may include Art Therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existentialism, Psychodynamic theory, and Person-centered techniques. I also integrate a holistic approach where we can explore your physical wellbeing such as diet, sleep, self-care, and exercise. These elements can play an important role in your mental wellbeing that can be explored in a safe space to learn and discover together.

what’s an appointment like?

Deciding to seek therapy can be a courageous act for you, especially if you are dealing with challenging situations and emotions. You can expect me to give you respect, care, and empathy for whatever you may bring to session.

In using art therapy and talk therapy techniques, I work alongside you to build a therapeutic partnership while also helping you to build a stronger connection to yourself in a safe, welcoming environment. Being an art therapist by nature means I may gravitate towards creating art in session because art therapy is a concrete, visual way for us to explore our inner worlds, thoughts, and build external connections. However, I do believe that talk therapy has important value in session.

Whether you are creating art or talking about yourself, seeking counseling can help you process, express your emotions, and learn effective coping strategies. In session, I may offer feedback, reflective questions, education, and skills to encourage self-regulation, self-care, and self-empowerment. You have the inner tools and resources, and in therapy, we can work collaboratively to cultivate your strengths and resources to positively impact your day-to-day life.

How long will the therapeutic process take?

Healing has no timeline. Growth is open-ended and endless. However, we do know, it takes about 10-12 weeks for lasting change to occur. After an initial consultation, you can expect regularly scheduled, appointments for at least 3 months. We typically review progress every few weeks and adjust scheduling as needed. An example of a possible therapeutic process may look like:

  • Weekly Sessions for 3 months

  • Biweekly Sessions for 3 months

  • Monthly Sessions for 3 months

  • Discharge

Regularity and continuity provide a feeling of security and add structure to the therapeutic process, in which your own experience can naturally unfold. I am here to assist you in this process, by offering the time and space needed, and certain skills that may enable you to explore your experience more effectively. Looking forward to hearing from you!
